Why the JSA feels different
At Panmunjeom, the Korean Armistice Agreement was signed in 1953. The location sits in the DMZ, about 50 kilometers north of Seoul, and remains a venue for inter-Korean talks. That is why the experience carries more procedural weight than a standard sightseeing stop.

If the JSA is unavailable
Do not turn the whole day into a disappointment. The Paju DMZ route, Dora Observatory, Imjingak and Aegibong offer different ways to understand the border landscape. They are not replacements for the JSA, but they are meaningful alternatives when a Panmunjeom visit is closed or unavailable.
